Hypertension and Erectile Dysfunction

Posted by: Health and Fitness: Hypertension Articles from EzineArticles.com Hypertension and erectile dysfunction are closely related in the same way as high blood sugar or coronary artery disease (CAD) creates sexual disorders. Erection of a penis depends upon an increased blood flow and high blood pressure affects this blood supply. With high blood pressure penis is unable to receive the required blood and fails to attain and sustain a sufficient erection required for satisfactory sexual activity. Proper working of blood vessels requires nitric oxide which is released when brain emits signals of sexual arousal. Men with a long history of high blood pressure fail to produce optimal level of nitric oxide and the penis tissues can no more widen to accommodate extra supply of blood needed for erection.
